Over the past six months, I've had the privilege of mentoring Ayça, a young engineer. Thanks to EY and the University of St. Gallen's "Aiming Higher - Women's Leadership Programme", we spent our meetings talking about work, career goals, and finding her voice in a male-dominated industry.
I know what it means, because I had the same feeling when I started out in the energy industry. It's tough when you don't quite fit in and you don't see many women in leadership roles.
I remember, at the beginning of my career, I often battled with imposter syndrome, feeling like I didn't quite belong. It took time, but eventually I found my voice and my confidence, and I'm so proud to see my mentee doing the same.
And here's the exciting part: my mentee is now stepping into a new role that she's been working hard for. It's a testament to her talent and determination. Seeing her confidence grow stronger has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
And you know what? Mentoring her has been amazing for me too. It's reminded me how much we learn from each other, and it makes me want to help even more women succeed.
I can't wait to see all the amazing things Ayça is going to do in her career! So, here's to celebrating small wins, lifting each other up, and creating a space where every voice is heard.
How did your mentorship experience go so far?
