School taught me to compete, not collaborate.
Grades were to compare, classmates to compete with.
Success felt like reaching up alone, not with others.
It's been a journey for me to change this view.
And it wasn't an easy one.
Building connections, alliances, and tribes.
Offering to, and receiving support from others.
It has taken conscious effort. By now, it feels easier.
Work-in-progress, but I'm proud of how far I've come.
Since my graduation, I spent 17 years working and further studying. In different professional settings,
I crossed paths with truly amazing women.
They are my most precious connections, alliances, tribes and helping hands.
On International Women's Day, my deepest gratitude goes out to them.
They showed me, that real power does not lie in a solitary climb, but in a strong and supportive professional network.
We lift up each other, not only today, but on any day.
Before I forget, did you know: t͟h͟e͟r͟e͟’s͟ ͟a͟ ͟s͟p͟e͟c͟i͟a͟l͟ ͟p͟l͟a͟c͟e͟ ͟i͟n͟ ͟h͟e͟l͟l͟ ͟f͟o͟r͟ ͟w͟o͟m͟e͟n͟ ͟w͟h͟o͟ ͟d͟o͟n͟’t͟ ͟h͟e͟l͟p͟ ͟e͟a͟c͟h͟ ͟o͟t͟h͟e͟r͟. 😱
Do you know, who said that?
So, who will you lift up today and any other day?
