I had the privilege of being a speaker at the Forbes Women Summit in Zürich on the 2nd November 2023. It's an event that brought together brilliant minds to discuss pivotal issues in today's professional world. Here are some of the highlights and thought-provoking ideas that we shared:
**Tech For Good**
I shared some thoughts on our responsibility to use tech for good in a large corporate - with our clients and our employees. We also talked about diverse boards and leadership teams bringing different perspectives and hence making better decisions.
My co-panelist Dr. Sophie Chung noted, that while technology may become a commodity, humans will not 👍🏻
**Revolutionizing Recruitment**
The way we hire hasn't changed significantly in the last two decades. It's time to look beyond the traditional CV and explore new ways to understand the person behind it. How can we truly recognize the potential and talents of our candidates?
**Upskilling for the Future**
With aging populations in Western countries, there's an urgent need to upskill virtually everyone to meet the workforce demands. This challenge calls for innovative solutions and proactive strategies in education and training.
**Passion in Applications**
The difference in today's job market can be made with personal touches like short video applications and elevator pitches. These methods allow candidates to showcase their passion and personality, moving away from traditional application processes.
**From Selection to Seduction**
The job market is evolving from one focused on selection to one centered on seduction. Companies must now attract and retain talent, emphasizing the importance of workplace culture and employee engagement.
**Diversity and Board Representation**
The slow progress towards gender parity in boardrooms necessitates extraordinary measures. Implementing quotas could be a bold step to accelerate diversity and inclusion at the highest levels of corporate governance.
**Negotiation Skills for Women**
A striking revelation was the data showing that as women’s confidence increases, their likeability tends to decrease, unlike their male counterparts. Women are encouraged not to apologize for negotiating. Using facts and strong arguments is key, without justifying or comparing oneself to others who are less paid.
**Staying Focused in Negotiations**
In negotiations, it's crucial to act rather than react. Stabilizing emotions, actively listening, and not getting sidetracked by irrelevant questions can significantly impact the outcome of a negotiation.
I loved the summit, as I do every year. It was a melting pot of innovative ideas and strategies, offering a fresh perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing professional women today. The insights gained from these discussions are invaluable for anyone looking to navigate the complexities of the modern workforce with confidence and skill. #negotiation #womenonboards #hiringfortalent #passion #upskilling #reskilling #techforgood #forbesda #forbes #womensummit
